Easter and Easter Egg Roll

Our Easter was full of incredible experiences and memories.  My Uncle David was nice enough to get us tickets to go to the Easter Egg Roll in Washington D.C.  Before the roll, we headed to my parents house on Good Friday to celebrate with Meme, Big Grandaddy, Great Grammy, Uncle Dwight, Uncle Ben, Aunt Jill, and cousins Noah, Owen and Wyatt!  Mary Scott had a blast running around with Noah and Owen, and probably enjoyed baby Wyatt the most!  Her big cousins were wonderful to her and she enjoyed them so much that she decided she would sit in her crib for 2 hours and talk and sing to herself instead of napping.  Kevin and I had gone to play golf and my mom and Jill tried everything to get her to sleep but she was not having it.  I was really worried considering we were about to go on a 4 day journey to Washington D.C., but she was a champ and was wonderful the entire time.  Here are a few picks from Friday!

                                            Easter Egg Hunt at Meme and Big Grandaddy's

After leaving Santee we headed to Fayetville so we could split the driving into two days.  On Saturday we made the rest of the trip to Washington.  We didn't leave first thing in the morning so Mary Scott could nap in the car, but we probably should have because we didn't think about how many people would be heading up the road back to New York and New Jersey from the beach.  However, we made it that afternoon and Mary Scott was such a great traveler.  We ended up getting to meet up with one of my best friend's from high school who now lives in San Francisco, but was in Washington with her boyfriend's family.  It was so great to get to see Gillian!

On Sunday, Mary Scott woke up early so we decided to go to the Sunrise Service on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, which was beautiful.  It was such a great reminder of Easter to look at God's creation and to see the sunrise over the Washington Monument.  We are so blessed to live in such a wonderful country.

Once we got back to the hotel we gave Mary Scott her Easter Basket.  She loved sitting in the window seat of the hotel, and were able to get some really cute pictures.  Later Sunday afternoon, we went to the air and space museum because Mary Scott is in love with airplanes.  It did not disappoint and she loved looking at all the "aipanes."

Monday was the day of the big Easter Egg Roll.  We went to breakfast in the morning and then went to the American History Museum, which turned out to be really cool because they had a transportation section, which Mary Scott loved.  We spent much of our day talking about trains, trucks, boats, airplanes, motorcycles, and buses and she always wants more.  After the museum we came back to nap before the roll.  This was one time it was nice that Mary Scott takes an early nap because she was able to get her full nap in by the time we had to leave at 1:15.  We then had to go and stand in line for over an hour before we got into the roll.  I knew it would be a long wait to I bought some M&M's at a cart right before we got in line and gave her one every few minutes (I figured this was one special time where a sugar high would do us well).  She was great during the line and during the entire egg roll.  Her favorite part was all of the characters we got to see.  They had every PBS character, and she ran right up to all of them which I couldn't believe.  At Christmas she was not a fan of Santa, so I couldn't believe how excited she was.  We also got to the do the egg hunt, dye eggs, and go to the Farmer's Market to get a tangerine and Apple.  It was a really neat experience, and we will cherish the pictures.  Here are a few!

They had yoga and Mary Scott wanted to go over the mats and she started doing poses like she knew it was supposed to be yoga, and it was hilarious.  I think she was having her sugar high from the M&M's

                    She was one tired girl afterwards and we drove straight home from D.C. after the roll and didn't get home until 12:30AM.  We are still recovering this week and have had a grumpy girl and some early bedtimes.  It was such a wonderful experience, and it has been worth the grumpiness!
